Welcome to Brandenburg

Flagge von Brandenburg

The state of Brandenburg together with the German capital Berlin covers an area of 30,000 square kilometres and forms Germany's capital region, exactly located between the growth markets of Central and Eastern Europe and the commercial hubs of Western Europe. Whether between Warsaw and Amsterdam, or Paris and Minsk, Berlin-Brandenburg lies precisely in the middle. Major European transport axes such as Paris-Warsaw-Moscow and Stockholm-Prague-Vienna run through the region. Following German unification, Brandenburg's infrastructure has undergone massive expansion, and is now second to none.

Dynamic region

Brandenburg as a business location acts as a bridge, and offers investors excellent conditions and interesting funding conditions. More than 200 million consumers are located within the radius of a one-day truck drive. The fact that more than 300 foreign companies - from Coca-Cola to Vattenfall – have chosen to invest in Brandenburg, Germany's "most dynamic region" (Federal State Ranking 2012, New Social Market Economy Initiative, WirtschaftsWoche), speaks for itself.

Many plus factors

Additional plus factors: Business taxes are lower in Brandenburg than in any other German state, with tax levels being just 80 percent of the German average (2015). And nowhere else in Germany is the research density as high as in the capital region. Berlin-Brandenburg's 52 universities and around 200 public and private research institutions with a total of around 50,000 scientists offer the best-possible cooperation possibilities.

Creating new jobs

The state of Brandenburg supports companies looking to relocate to Brandenburg or to expand here. These funding programmes include money from the Federal Government and the European Union. Particular emphasis is placed in the promotion of SMEs, the aim being to create sustainable new jobs. The Wirtschaftsförderung Land Brandenburg acts as a key contact in the state of Brandenburg for investors, local entrepreneurs and start-ups.
